Police & Crime Commissioner impressed by Boxing Club

Police & Crime Commissioner Candidate Tony Hogg joined local South East Cornwall MP Sheryll Murray for a visit to find out the excellent work being carried out by Torpoint Boxing Club last week. Tony & Sheryll joined Chairman Mark White and the many younger members for their regular 'fun and fitness' session.

Volunteer sought at World Mental Health Day event

Sheryll Murray MP was delighted to catch up with old friends from her former workplace when she visited the Cornerstone Methodist Church in Torpoint with Community Health Around Torpoint (CHAT) on Friday morning to mark World Mental Health Day.  Hosted by the Friends of the Antony Road Surgery this coffee morning raised awareness of mental health issues and offered people the chance to talk to representatives of local mental health services and ask questions and express their opinions.

Sheryll Murray joins family affected by cancer to help raise funds

Sheryll Murray was delighted to support the Fundraising Raffle and event organised by Paul Bendelow, from St Cleer, last Friday. Paul and his wife Natalie wanted to do something to raise funds for MacMillian Cancer Care after a relative was diagnosed with a brain tumour. With over 100 prizes donated from local business the sum raised had already reached over £1000 before the event began.

Double Celebration for Produce Market

Sheryll Murray MP was pleased to join Cornwall Business Partnership Chairman Thelma Sorensen OBE on Saturday to celebrate the first anniversary for the produce market at Edinburgh Woollen Mill’s Kernow Mill. It was also announced at the celebration that a grant had been awarded to the project from the Rural Development Programme for England for a winter cover for the market.  The Market, which is held in the car park, has several stallholders selling local produce to both residents and tourists alike. The grant for the winter cover was for £3,000 to include some marketing equipment.

Flag decommissioning talks of 'many stories'

Sheryll Murray MP was pleased to join Girl Guides for the decommissioning of their old flag and the blessing of their new flag at Liskeard Wesley Methodist Church. The new flag was a donation from the Old Cornwall Society.  The Minister, Revd Ruth Goodland, spoke of the many stories the flag being decommissioned had and how the new flag would see many new stories of the existing 2nd Liskeard Girl Guides which have been in operation for 92 years.

World School Milk Day celebrated

Sheryll Murray, MP for South East Cornwall, was pleased to join Polperro Nursery to celebrate World School Milk Day.  World School Milk Day is organised by the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations and is celebrated in over 30 countries around the world. Launched in 2000, the day is used to promote the importance of drinking milk at school to children in a fun and educational way.

Coffee fundraiser popular in Cornwall

Sheryll Murray MP was pleased to join a number of Coffee mornings across her South East Cornwall Constituency. The events were part of the ‘World’s largest coffee morning’ held on Friday to raise funds for MacMillan Cancer Support.

New ‘Green’ welcomed in Menheniot

Sheryll Murray, MP for South East Cornwall, was pleased to attend the official opening of Menheniot Village Green with Sir John Salusbury-Trelawny 14th Baronet. 

Donkey Park “a great day out”

Local MP Sheryll Murray made time in her busy schedule recently to visit the Tamar Valley Donkey Park to listen to the issues faced by this important tourist venue in her constituency in St Ann’s Chapel.  The Park is home to over 25 donkeys and has many other attractions such as goats, sheep, pigs, indoor play areas, and adventure play area and even Santa stops off to meet children in the run up to Christmas.
