MP welcomes new Liskeard Mayor and his Deputy

Local MP Sheryll Murray was pleased to attend this years Annual Meeting of Liskeard Town Council to see Cllr Phil Seeva become Mayor and Cllr Jayne Pascoe become his Deputy.  The ceremony which sees the Mayor and his Deputy make their oaths was attended by fellow Councillors, Mayors from other towns and many of the people of Liskeard.

First Palace Lions Bannerette awarded to Saltash

Local MP and Lion Sheryll Murray exchanged bannerettes with Saltash President Lion Neil Challen at their Charter Dinner held at the China Fleet Country Club on Saturday.  Over 110 people attended the event which included a 70s/80s disco.

EFRA Committee visit to see Cornish success

Members of the Environmental, Food and Rural Affairs Committee visited the award winning Cornish Cheese company at Upton Cross just outside Liskeard to see for themselves what makes this company successful.

Thanks to Lions at Saltash May Fair

South East Cornwall MP and Lion Sheryll Murray was pleased to present Saltash Mayor David Yates with a defibrillator for use in the town with money raised by the Saltash Lions.

Green Man festival off to a fantastic start

South East Cornwall MP Sheryll Murray was pleased to attend the first ever day of the Green Man festival at Mount Edgcumbe Park on Saturday.  Sheryll, who is a member of the Friends of Mount Edgcumbe Park group, met with Park manager Ian Berry, at the Green Man statue.

Dance the Maypole – same today as 50 years ago

South East Cornwall MP Sheryll Murray was pleased to see the children dancing round the maypole in her home village of Millbrook dancing the same dances she did when a child some 50 years ago.  Sheryll said, “Seeing the children dance really did take me back to when I was a child.  I always really enjoyed these festivities and I could see from the children’s faces they were still enjoying them today.  I also remember my daughter dancing these same dances when she was young.  I hope that many generations of Millbrook youngsters continue to enjoy this event well into the future.”

South East Cornwall MP Sheryll Murray was pleased to meet with holiday and stables business Polmartin Riding and Equestrian who have reached number 1 holiday destination in Cornwall on the influential Trip Advisor site.

Local MP hears of city’s bid to be ‘blue’

South East Cornwall MP Sheryll Murray met with the National Marine Aquarium’s Director of Conservation and Communication Paul Cox and the Aquarium’s Managing Director David Gibson to hear about Plymouth’s bid to become a ‘Fish 2 Fork Blue City’.   The Fish2fork Blue City scheme has been created to recognise communities where at least half the restaurants serving four or more species of fish and shellfish have earned a blue fish rating.
