MP attends unveiling of war grave

Local MP Sheryll Murray attended a service held by the Looe Branch of the Royal British Legion on Saturday.

The service was held to commemorate Pte Richard Yeo of the Duke of Cornwall’s Light Infantry and to unveil a new headstone supplied by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.

New name for new ship welcomed

Local MP Sheryll Murray MP has welcomed the news that there is to be a new HMS Tamar.  The new Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) for the Royal Navy is part of a £287 million contract, announced by the MOD today.

Almost £2 million for potholes in Cornwall

Local MP Sheryll Murray MP has welcomed the news that Cornwall will receive £1,847,000 to fix 34,900 potholes in Cornwall.  The Transport Secretary outlined the details of road improvements announced as part of the Autumn Statement.

£1million for Cornwall Air Ambulance welcomed

Local MP Sheryll Murray joined Cornwall Air Ambulance Chief Executive Paula Martin and Minister Rob Wilson MP to celebrate the news that Cornwall Air Ambulance have received £1 million from Libor Fines to contribute towards a new generation Air Ambulance helicopter.

Rail plan welcomed

Local MP Sheryll Murray joined fellow South West MPs and Rail Minister Paul Maynard to launch the report ‘Closing the Gap’ prepared by the Peninsula Rail Task Force which outlined a 20 year plan for investment into the South West Peninsula’s strategic rail network.

Growth Charter given to PM

Local MP Sheryll Murray joined fellow South West MPs from across the political divide to deliver a ‘South West Growth Charter’ to Downing Street on Tuesday.

The document entitled ‘A new Partnership for the South West’ outlines the following commitments:

350,000 more people in work

Between June and September this year unemployment fell by 37,000 and since last year 350,000 more people now have a full time job.

Liskeard School in Parliamentary Review

Local MP Sheryll Murray and Liskeard Mayor Jane Pascoe where pleased to visit Liskeard School and Community College to celebrate their inclusion in the Secondary Education Edition of The Parliamentary Review.  The only school in Devon and Cornwall to be featured.

Award for Liskeard NCS

Local MP Sheryll Murray and Liskeard Mayor Jane Pascoe joined local young adults who took part in the National Citizenship Service scheme over the Summer to celebrate their achievement.  Liskeard School and Community College received an award as a ‘Champion College 2015/16’.
