Local MP Sheryll Murray attended a visit to Auschwitz concentration camp in Southern Poland as part of a Holocaust Education Trust with local school children.
Sheryll Murray explained, "I joined the Holocaust Education Trust on a visit to Auschwitz. Through the Lessons from Auschwitz Project, sixth-form students and their teachers take part in two afternoon seminars and a one-day visit to the former Nazi extermination camp of Auschwitz-Birkenau in order to then pass on the lessons in their schools and communities. The project receives funding through a Government Grant towards the cost of the trip."
"I joined teachers and pupils who had travelled from many schools in Cornwall and the wider South West but was particularly pleased to join two students from Liskeard and two students from Callington who were also accompanied by one of the teachers from the school."
"I was amazed at the massive expanse of the Camp and this trip reinforced upon me that we must never ever forget the atrocities that took place in this and other camps across Europe. It must never be allowed to happen again."
