Local MP Sheryll Murray made a statement from the Houses of Parliament following the triggering of Article 50 when a letter was delivered to the President of the European Council, Donald Tusk.
In her statement Sheryll Murray said, “I am pleased article 50 has now been triggered with the delivery of this letter. This means we are leaving the European Union. This was a decision taken by the people of Cornwall and the country as a whole. A decision I backed. I believe it will make Britain stronger. We will be able to make our own decisions. We can become a more outward looking, global Britain. We will also seek a new partnership with our friends in Europe. It’s clear that the negotiations ahead are going to be difficult. I, and my colleagues, will do all we can to make sure that we have a new relationship with the European Union that works for everyone.”
